The US affiliate of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) posted a short article in their periodic newsletter yesterday. The article calls attention to the imminent release of the lasted update to the main FSC Chain of Custody standard (FSC-STD-40-004).

The recent troubles with the release of a new multi-site standard should serve as a warning to all of us of the importance to watch these processes closely. FSC has been working on this update for a very long time. While they have yet to release any details, they have made numerous, and often contradictory, statements about the need for change in the CoC business. Hopefully, the time has come to discuss some details.
The official website for the CoC revision is on the FSC-IC website. It promises a first, public consultation in November & December of this year. We will continue watching this closely and help get the word out when something concrete is available.
