In my January 8 blogpost, I called attention to the ambitious and impressive effort that the SFI program staff a making to engage stakeholders in the comprehensive review of their standards this year.  I feel strongly that all companies who hold SFI certificates – whether they are for Forest Management, Fiber Procurement, or Chain of Custody – should take some time to engage in this process and share their perspectives.  This, of course, includes offering frank and constructive criticism.

One important element of this review process is a series of public meetings that are being held in cities across the US and Canada this winter.  The schedule includes sessions in:

Vancouver, BC

Edmunton, AB

Portland, OR

Charlotte, NC

Memphis, TN

Montreal, PQ (2 sessions in english & french)

Portland, ME

Minneapolis, MN

I plan to attend the session in Portland, Maine and when I mentioned this fact in my January 8 post, I mistakenly recorded the date as February 31.  This is, of course, impossible.  The Portland, Maine session is scheduled for February 27, 2013 and I hope to see some of you there.

A wise person once said that the world is run by people who show up, so let’s show up.

Between now and then, I intend to have some more detailed commentary on the detail in the proposed, draft standards, which I will share here.  Your reactions and feedback are always appreciated.
